Deformation temperature effect on rolling pressure and mechanical properties of stainless steels during high temperature thermomechanical treatment

Description

With the aim of developing the modes of high-temperature treatment of stainless steels a study was made of the effects of rolling temperature in the temperature range of 850-1150 deg C on the pressure exerted on the rolls and of the mechanical properties of 08Kh18N10T austenitic steel and 0Kh18N12TF austenitic-ferritic steel that have high resistance to deformation. It has been established that 08Kh18N10T steel in the temperature range of 1050-1150 deg C is more hard-worked than the two-phase steel which can be explained probably by a much lower energy of the defects involved in austenite packing as well as by different strengthening of sigma and γ-phases at such temperatures. In the temperature range of 850-900 deg C 0Kh18N12TF steel is more intensively strengthened evidently due to the release of the carbide-forming elements out of the solid solution. In this case sufficient ductility is retained since in this temperature range the difference in resistance to hot deformation of various structural components is minimal
