Sizing and timing analysis for computer software-based nuclear reactor safety systems

  • 1. China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., Beijing (China)

Description

The computer software used in the safety system of nuclear power plants is a key component to complete the control functions of nuclear power plants. It is the nerve center of nuclear power plants, so its quality requirements are very high. According to the requirements of the standard IEEE STD 1012-2004, the Verification and Validation (V&V) of the software applied to the safety system of the nuclear power plant should be performed. The Sizing and Timing Analysis was an optional task in the V&V works, but the details were not given in the standard. Through the analysis of software function and resource utilization, combined with the requirements of the standard and the practical application experience in engineering, this paper summarizes a guiding method for analyzing whether the software's demand for time performance and capacity is satisfied, which provides guidance for V&V personnel to perform software Sizing and Timing Analysis task.
