Anomalous heating of thermal electrons near Sq focus

Description
The sharp hot electron layer was found to appear at the height of 105 km at around 11 hours in local time in winter. In this paper several features associated with the hot electron layer were described and one possible mechanism of the electron heating was presented; thermal electrons are accelerated and heated by the strong electric field which is locally established in the E-region by the coupling of the North-South hemisphere dynamo region through geomagnetic line of force.
