Description
Deformation induced changes in cold-rolled amorphous Cu57Zr43 are investigated by density measurement, optical and transmission electron microscopy, small angle X-ray scattering, and positron life time measurement. Dilatational defects such as dilated shear bands, vacancies, microvoids, and cracks are not detected to provide evidence for excess volume storage in deformed amorphous materials. It is considered that dilatational defects, if created during deformation, are annealed out at the ambient temperature. (author)
