Alteration of reactor installation (alteration of No.1 and No.2 reactor facilities) in Tsuruga Power Station, Japan Atomic Power Co. (Report)
Description
The Nuclear Safety Commission received the report on April 13, 1988, from the Committee on Examination of Nuclear Reactor Safety, to which the investigation and deliberation had been instructed on December 24, 1987, on the above alteration, and presented the report to the Minister of International Trade and Industry after the deliberation. It was recognized as the result of examination that the technical capability of the applicant is appropriate. It was judged as the result of investigation and deliberation that the safety after this alteration of reactor installation can be ensured. The course of the investigation and deliberation is reported. The main matters to be investigated and deliverated were the functions of nuclear instrumentation and safety protection of a start-up region monitor to be adopted for No.1 reactor, the mechanical design and nuclear design of new type control rods to be adopted for extending control rod life, the abolition of tank attenuation method in the gaseous waste treatment system, the partial change of water intake facilities, the analysis of abnormal transient change in operation, and the analysis of accidents. It was confirmed that there is not any safety problem in these matters. (Kako, I.)
