Description

Peculiarities of blood cell regeneration (amoebocytopoiesis) in the edible snail Helix pomatia after X-ray radiation effect have been investigated using [3H] thymidine radioautography. It is shown that cells - the precursors of amoebocytes actively rewproducing outside the peripheric blood, possess high radiosensitivty. Lethal radiation dose (200-500 Gy) effect suppresses their proliferation and leads to irreversible amebocytopenia. Radioresistant cells, being incapable for proliferation, are circulating in the peripheric blood
