After a critical appraisal of the DIW expert opinion concerning the energy situation in the big city of Hamburg should the local government decide to abandon nuclear energy as a source for electricity generation, the book discusses the following major items connected with such plans: (1) The ecological and economic fundamentals of electricity generation; (2) Hamburg's electricity supplies, and the capacity of renewable energy sources to contribute to meeting the town's energy demands. (3) A regulatory regime for the town's electricity sector, and alternatives. (4) Socio-economic and political framework conditions of an optioning out of nuclear generation, and the resulting restraints and chances of alternative energy supply concepts for Hamburg. (orig.)

Nach einem kritischen Blick auf das DIW-Gutachten zum Verzicht '... auf den Einsatz von Kernenergie in der Stromerzeugung fuer Hamburg' werden folgende damit zusammenhaengende Schwerpunktthemen behandelt: 1.) Umweltoekonomische Grundlagen der Stromproduktion, 2.) die Stromversorgung Hamburgs und der potentielle Beitrag regenerativer Energieformen, 3.) die Regulierung der Elektrizitaetswirtschaft und alternative Konzepte und sozialoekonomische und politische Rahmenbedingungen eines Kernenergieausstiegs sowie daraus resultierende Restriktionen und Chancen alternativer Energiekonzepte in Hamburg.
