Description
The underground water flow modelling is an important step in the safety evaluation of the site proposed for disposal of the low and intermediate level radioactive wastes. Assuming the water flow at saturation obeys the Poisseuille law and the pores have a cylindrical shape, the permeability can be correlated with the porosity distribution. The effect of the environment anisotropy is given by the correction factor. The calculated permeability for loess and clay samples is in good agreement with the experimental results. The accuracy is greater than that offered by the other relationships, based mostly on the granulometric distribution. (author)
