Procedure for the preparation of stabilized ZrO2 mixed oxide powders with high sinterability

Description

The invention is directed at a procedure for the preparation of stabilized mixed oxide powders (e.g. with CaO, MgO, Y2O3) with high sinterability for the production of solid electrolyte ceramics. These ceramics are also applied to power plant instrumentation. The procedure leads to a stabilized ZrO2 mixed oxide of highest homogeneity without additional homogeneization steps. The two compounds are precipitated in an optimed homogeneous distribution in such a way that a carbonato-zirconate complex solution is produced by dissolving the zirconium compound in an excess of alkali or ammonium carbonate. A separately prepared solution mixture consisting of an acid and a stabilizer salt is added. The precipitated basic Zr-carbonate with its homogeneous distribution of stabilizer cations is calcined to ZrO2 mixed oxide powder
