Investigation of thermodynamic properties of niobium-titanium alloy system

Description

To investigate thermodynamic properties of alloys of the Nb-Ti system measured have been electromotive forces (EMF) of high-temperature galvanic elements of the type Ti(solid) salt with titanium ions/Nb-Ti(alloy) depending on the alloy composition in the temperature range of 973-1123 K. According to the EMF values measured calculated are activities, values of partial molar entropy of niobium and titanum mixing and integral values of the system (ΔG, ΔS and ΔH) are calculated. In all the concentration ranges investigated observed is considerable negative deviations of Nb and Ti activities, and also integral thermodynamic functions of Raul law. Extremums of the ΔG, ΔS and ΔH functions correspond to the alloys, containing approximately 50-60 atomic % Ti, which points to the greatest structure regulation and the presence of complex interactions between component atoms in the alloys of the given composition
