Study on diagnosis of hepatic neoplasms using dynamic computed tomography
Description
Based on dynamic computed tomography (CT) findings in 81 patients with hepatic neoplasms, late stage CT was developed, whereby permitting sequential scanning of the whole liver from 60 seconds after the bolus injection of contrast medium, and its diagnostic usefulness was evaluated. Sequential changes in CT values of hepatic neoplasms and normal livers were examined from tumor-liver density curves. Late stage CT showed large differences in CT values between normal livers and liver neoplasms in 77 of the 81 patients. Its diagnostic sensitivity was 86%. Lesions more than 1 cm could be detected on late stage CT. Therefore, late stage CT seems to be a useful noninvasive method for diagnosing small liver neoplasms and intrahepatic metastasis.
