Crystal structure of the La3+ sandwich complex based on 8-membered macrocyclic siloxanolate ligands

Description
X-Ray diffraction study has been performed to investigate the interaction product of anhydrous LaCl3 with potassium vinylsyloxanolate: K5([VinSiO2]8La4(μ-OH) · [O2SiVin]8) · 5n-BuOH · 2H2O. The complex formed is of sandwich type. Ligands coordinate planar 'cation layer' of four La3+ ions. The layer is stabilized by inclusion of additional bridge ligand μ-OH. The crystals of complex investigated are triclinic, the lattice parameters at 150 K are: a = 17,23(2), b = 18,42(2), c = 19,05(2) A, α 64,60(8), β = 70,10(7), γ = 69,43(7) deg, V 4983(9)A3, Z = 2, sp. gr. P1, dcalcd = 1,712 g/cm3
