Radiolysis of the bis(1,2-dicarbollyl)cobalt(III) ion in nitrobenzene-bromoform mixture Pt. 4
Description
Stepwise radiation bromination occurs by irradiation of bis(1,2-dicarbollyl)cobalt(III), DCC, in bromoform-nitrobenzene mixtures. 8-monobromo- and 8,8'-dibromo derivatives (further: BrDCC and Br2DCC, respectively) were confirmed to be the intermediate and final products of bromination. The nitrobenzene solution of DCC being not stable enough in contact with HNO3 solutions, at the concentrations above 4M HNO3, the blockage of B(8) atoms increases the radiation and chemical stability of DCC.
