Design, manufacture and testing of medium power servo motor for robotics applications
- 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Reactor Control Div.
Description
The paper discusses the design features of 2 phase, 100 watts, AC servomotors developed for robotics application. The required characteristics for a servomotor are linear torque speed curve and low mechanical time constant. In order to achieve the above requirements different types of configurations of AC servomotors are considered and relative merits and demerits have been discussed. The complete design has been carried out for squirrel cage rotors and verified experimentally. The same has been carried out for solid rotor induction motor also. It has been found that voltage control of 2 phase servomotor can be used for motors upto 100 watts. Beyond this capacity special cooling system should be provided for dissipating the heat from the motors. (author). 6 figs
