Inservice inspection and monitoring of the Winfrith steam generating heavy water reactor
Description
The paper describes the surveillance and inspection techniques being used on the Winfrith Steam Generating Heavy Water Reactor. The results obtained to date are discussed. No significant defects have been observed after 7 years operation. The effects of irradiation on chemical and mechanical behaviour are less than was anticipated during the design stage but attention is drawn to the difficulties associated with restriction on personnel access due to deposition of radioactive crud.
