Biosorption of radiostrontium by calcium alginate beads
Creators
- 1. Process Development Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Batch equilibration studies have been carried out on the biosorption of Sr2+ ions from aqueous solution by calcium alginate beads prepared in the laboratory. The kinetics of uptake has been studied. The Freundlich isotherm was used to correlate data on effect of strontium concentration on uptake. The results are of relevance in connection with strontium removal from aqueous effluents from nuclear plants. (author)
