The potential of gamma spectrometry in the determination of natural radionuclides for radiation protection purposes
Description
Materials in which natural radionuclides should be monitored are divided into 3 classes: (i) building materials, materials for their manufacture, some wastes; (ii) varieties of drinking water; (iii) material released from workplaces where significant exposure to natural radionuclides can occur. The radionuclides occurring in the 3 classes of material are listed and the processes used for their determination or monitoring are highlighted. Some issues associated with this topic are discussed.
