A radionuclide technique for studies of zinc absorption in man

  • 1. Sahlgrenska Sjukhuset, Goeteborg (Sweden)

Description

A simple and sensitive whole-body counting technique has been developed for the measurement of zinc absorption in systematic studies of the availability of zinc in diets for human consumption. Possible sources of errors are discussed. The administered 65Zn radioactivity could be kept so low that the resulting radiation doses were smaller than the variations in annual background doses.
