Treatment of hepatic metastases from gastro intestinal primaries with split course radiation therapy and concomitant infusion 5-flourouracil

  • 1. SUNY, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY

Description

In an attempt to improve the therapeutic ratio the authors initiated in 1980 a study of split course radiation with concomitant intravenous 5-fluorouracil for liver metastases from gastrointestinal malignancies at Downstate Medical Center. It is hoped that if such treatment shows significant prolongation of survival, with acceptable morbidity, its application as an adjuvant for patients at high risk of hematogenous liver metastases can be entertained
