Description

Delayed neutrons emitted in β- decay of neutron-rich nuclei produced in the r process are studied. The delayed-neutron effect on the yield of elements is investigated for various characteristics of the neutron-rich nuclei. The account of the A shift in the element yield in the r process may be extremely important when the age is determined making use of nuclear chronology for radioactive nuclei. The β- decay and delayed-neutron emission are described by the microscopic approach. The (β-, 1n) and (β-, 2n) effect on redistribution of concentrations of produced elements is estimated. The suggested mathematical model for the kinetic r process is applicable to the calculation of the yield of nuclei in a wide range of external physical conditions of the r process
