Sensitivity of mononuclear cells to UV radiation

  • 1. Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston (USA)

Description

The viability of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells, as measured by trypan blue dye exclusion, was decreased by exposure to UV radiation in vitro. The toxicity of the UV radiation was dose- and wavelength-dependent; UVC (254 nm) was approximately 10 times more effective than UVB (280-320 nm) and 105 times more effective than UVA (320-400 nm).
