Laser fluorescence measurements of integral cross sections for rotational transitions of state-selected lithium hydride

  • 1. Johns Hopkins Univ., Baltimore, MD (USA). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

State-resolved rotationally inelastic cross sections involving lithium hydride have been determined using electric quadrupole state selection and tunable laser fluorescence detection. Because of the beam-gas scattering configuration, the derived quantities are absolute integral cross sections. Since LiH is such a simple molecule, it has been possible in a collaborative effort to compare these results with predictions obtained from sophisticated theoretical models. Results for the scattering of HCl, DCl, HCN and He are presented and discussed. (Auth.)
