The influence of the continuum in heavy-ion reactions

Description
In the work we present new coupled channel (CC) calculation results with the Sao Paulo(SPP) potential and a parameter-free imaginary potential(l) ,that has been developed to take in account dissipative processes(complete(IA/CN) , incomplete fusion and/or break-up/deep inelastic(DIC)) in heavy-ion reactions, thought the population of states of the continuum. This imaginary potential is based on nucleon capture by the nuclear matter, and it is also related to the bare double folding potential (SPP).The theoretical calculations also consider a positive polarization from the continuum , that is particularly important for reactions involving weakly bound or deformed nuclei This effect gives rise to an enhancement in the quasi-elastic cross sections.(see figure l).The comparison between the theoretical calculations and existing/new experimental data for several heavy-ion systems will be discussed.(author)
