Description
In November, 1977, an International Symposium on Food Preservation by Irradiation was held at Wageningen, the Netherlands. About 200 participants attended the Symposium which was organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization; a reflection of the active interest which is being shown in food irradiation processing, particularly among developing countries. The 75 papers presented provided an excellent review of the current status of food irradiation on a wide range of different topics, and the Symposium also afforded the valuable opportunity for informal discussion among the participants and for developing personal contacts. A brief survey of the salient aspects discussed during the course of the meeting are reported on. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Im November 1977 wurde in Wageningen, Niederlande, ein internationales Symposium ueber Lebensmittelkonservierung durch Bestrahlung abgehalten. Dieses Symposium, das von der Internationalen Atomenergie-Organisation (IAEO), der Organisation fuer Lebensmittel und Landwirtschaft (FAO) der Vereinten Nationen und der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) gemeinsam veranstaltet wurde, besuchten etwa 200 Teilnehmer, was das aktive Interesse widerspiegelt, das der Lebensmittelbestrahlungstechnik, besonders unter den Entwicklungslaendern, entgegengebracht wird. Die 75 Beitraege ergaben einen ausgezeichneten Ueberblick ueber den gegenwaertigen Stand der Lebensmittelbestrahlung auf einem weiten Bereich verschiedener Themenkreise. Das Symposium lieferte ferner eine wertvolle Gelegenheit zum formlosen Gespraech zwischen den Teilnehmern und zur Anknuepfung persoenlicher Kontakte. (orig.)Additional details
