Study of giant resonances with hadrons
Creators
Description
Attention is focused on an exciting recent development which so far has provided an even more detailed knowledge on the decay properties of the 'new' isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance (IS - GQR) than is available for the time-honoured giant dipole resonance (GDR). Such progress has been achieved by (α,α'c) experiments measuring the charged particle decay c of the IS-GQR in coincidence with the inelastic alpha particle which caused this excitation. First, some features of this experimental technique are discussed and after that several examples are considered in more detail. (KBE) 891 KBE/KBE 892 ARA
