The PC-based LAN used for high-current accelerator

  • 1. China Academy of Engineering Physics, Chengdu (China)

Description

A monitoring and control system for a high-current linear induction accelerator is presented. It is a centralized management, distributed control and data acquisition system. The system consists of a supervisory PC, industrial control computers connected via a bit bus. The system has been used for a 10 MeV, 3 kA induction Linac for more than a year. And the results show that the system is reliable, expansible, easy-maintaining, capable of working at environment of high level electrical and magnetic radiation, and in some characteristics, even better than currently widely-used CAMAC system. It is a successful experience for the bit bus LAN and industrial control computers to be used in the control and monitoring system of the accelerators
