Computational analysis of a packed column for SO3 decomposition in sulfur-iodine process
- 1. Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, 150 Deokjin-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon (Korea, Republic of)
Description
The thermochemical and hybrid hydrogen production processes accompanied with the high temperature and strongly corrosive operating conditions basically have material problems. In order to resolve these problems, the development of a structural material and equipment design technologies is being carried out. A SO3 decomposer which applies a direct heating concept is one of the candidate technologies to resolve such problems. A directly heated SO3 decomposer for the sulfur-iodine and hybrid-sulfur processes has been introduced and analyzed by using a computational fluid dynamics code (CFD). (author)
