Quantitative Analysis Technique for Xenon in PWR Spent Fuel by Using WDS(2)

Description

This study has been carried out as an own project of the KAERI for 2 years from 2011. In the first year of the project, the standardless analysis method and procedure were developed. In the second year, a beam current surveillance program was developed. It is used for inspecting the beam stability, which is an important unreliability factor of the quantitative WDS analysis. Also, the 7 cm radiation shield was installed for minimizing background count rate increased by the gamma ray emitted from a spent fuel sample. Quantitative analyses for Nd and Xe element of the spent fuel sample were performed using the SEM-WDS system according to the analysis procedure developed in the first year. And also, unreliability factors were searched and the effects of them were estimated
