Diffraction excitation of Be by pions at 40 GeV/c momentum with proton emission into backward hemisphere

Description
The results are presented obtained at the SIGMA-AJAKS facility by studying the contribution introduced by the events with low multiplicity of charged secondaries and large longitudinal momentum of the leading negative particle to the cross section of the inclusive π- + Be=pB + X at 40 GeV/c. Here, the pB-proton with kinetic energy TB in the region of 0.1 < TB < 0.3 GeV is detected at Θ=150 - 160 deg on the direction of the incident π-meson beam. 16 refs., 15 figs., 2 tabs
