Description

The authors present the temperature dependence of the magnetic hyperfine shift tensors of 17O nuclei for the sited within the CuO2 plane (site O(l)) and in the BaO, LaO, SrO plane (O(ll) site) in the compounds YBa2Cu3O7, YBa2Cu3O6.65, La1.85Sr10.15CuO4 and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8. For O(l) sites, the isotropic part of the tensor reflects the polarization of the oxygen 2s orbitals by the neighboring Cu d-hole and the temperature dependence of the susceptibility. The authors show that in YBa2Cu3O6.65, the spins of the oxygen p-holes have their own degree of freedom above 120 K
