The correction of ions energy spread in neutron depth profiling
- 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics and Chemistry, China Academy of Engineering Physics, Mianyang (China)
Description
In neutron depth profiling, the recorded ions have energy spreads as they travel through the sample material, hence the changes in their spectra. Based on the SRIM codes, we simulated the energy-spread distributions of the four product ions, namely 0.839 and 1.013 MeV Li+ ions, and 472 and 1.776 MeV α particles, in the 10B(n,α)7Li reaction. The fitted functions obtained were used to evaluate the energy spread with Gaussian function. (authors)
