Powder processing for the fabrication of oxide dispersion strengthened ferritic steels

Description

The addition of Ti to the powder mixtures, which will finally give oxide dispersion strengthened ferritic steels, causes the appearance of large oxide particles in the end product. These particles are detrimental to the tensile properties at 700 deg C. The method for preparing powder mixtures is recalled. The effect peculiar to each mill has been shown with binary powder mixtures Fe-TiO2. In this case, the relationship between the end product properties and the mill type has been defined more accurately

Abstract (French)

L'introduction de poudre de titane metallique dans les melanges destines a la fabrication des alliages ferritiques renforces par dispersion d'oxydes provoque l'apparition dans le produit fini de grosses particules d'oxydes. Ces particules sont nuisibles pour la resistance a la traction a 700 deg C. La methode de preparation des melanges de poudres est rappelee. L'effet propre a chaque broyeur a ete demontre avec des melanges binaires Fe-TiO2. La relation entre les qualites du produit final et le type de broyeur utilise a dans ce cas pu etre precisee
