Crystal-field excitations in ferromagnetic NdAl2

Description
By means of neutron inelastic scattering the authors measured the dispersion of magnetic excitations in ferromagnetic NdAl2 at 4.2 K for wave-vectors along the <001> direction. 3 acoustic and 3 optic branches and partly a fourth optic branch have been resolved. The experiments are well described in terms of a cubic crystal field and an isotropic Heisenberg exchange interaction. (Auth.)
