Crystal field theory and magnetic properties of transition metal ions in amorphous compounds

  • 1. Istituto Elettrotecnico Nazionale, Turin (Italy)

Description

The magnetic properties of amorphous compounds containing transition-metal ions are discussed by considering the crystal-field splittings of ground terms of magnetic cations, on the basis of a model explicitly taking into account the short-range order structures present in these systems even in absence of any long-range structural order
