Description
A portable prompt gamma ray source which consists of a AmBe neutron source and polyvinyl-chloride target (PVC) set in a graphite and water moderator has been used for energy and relative efficiency calibration of a HPGe semiconductor detector, in the energy range from 1 to 8.5 MeV. These gamma rays come from the 35 Cl(n,γ)36 Cl reaction on the target. (author)
