Spectroscopic detection of chemical inhomogeneity of Asub(p) star surfaces in the case of the absence of their spectral variability

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Astronomicheskij Sovet

Description

Chemical composition of Ap-star surfaces is investigated. It is shown that the determined ''average'' abundances in Ap stars with a spotty surface depend on the intensity of a line used for analysis, due to nonlinear character of the curve of growth. A method to reveal chemical inhomogeneity is proposed for the cases when no spectral variability is seen
