Concentrations in the Local Association

Extensive intermediate band and Hβ observations and the available astrometry, have been used to support the suggestions that (1) several southern concentrations of stars are moving with the Pleiades and α Persei clusters (Local Association) and (2) the Local Association contains an appreciable percentage of the main-sequence stars near the Sun but the non-random distribution of the brighter association members focuses attention on a few concentrations, or 'clusters'. (3) All of the concentrations discussed here are larger than about 10 pc and the largest, in Lupus-Centaurus, is shown to be accompanied by A to G type main-sequence stars. (author)
