Principal components method in determination of reservoirs and evaluation of their saturation in a heterogeneous section

Considers techniques of distinguishing probable oil-bearing beds, and differentiating between water-saturated and oil-saturated rocks by measurement of ten geophysical characteristics. West Ukrainian terrigenous rocks were used as examples. The starting data projection onto the plane of the first main components is shown to be highly efficient, providing a clear cut division into the main classes. It is concluded that the method of main components may be strongly recommended
