Room-temperature fracture energy of monoclinic Gd2O3
Description
The fracture energy of monoclinic Gd2O3 was measured as a function of porosity. The preparation of the specimens is described. The room-temperature Young's modulus was measured and the elastic moduli were calculated. A water immersion technique was used to measure the bulk density of each specimen. The fracture surface energy measurements were carried out using the notched beam test, and the surface energy was calculated from a given equation. The results are presented and discussed. (U.K.)
