Polarized heavy flavor production in next-to-leading order QCD

  • 1. Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Regensburg, D-93040 Regensburg (Germany)

Description

We present a calculation of the NLO QCD corrections to heavy flavor production with longitudinally polarized beams and briefly discuss the main sources of theoretical uncertainties. We apply our results to study the spin asymmetry for total charm quark production which will soon be used by the COMPASS experiment to measure Δg. The results are also relevant for future experiments like EPIC or eRHIC
