Description
On-line isothermal gas-adsorption chromatography of polonium in the form of its short-lived isotope sup(211m)Po (Tsub(1/2)=25.5 s) was used to measure adsorption enthalpies with the metal surfaces silver, gold, copper, palladium and platinum. Deduced adsorption enthalpies are found to be in agreement with values from previous investigations applying stationary thermochromatographic techniques and long-lived isotopes but also with calculated values obtained with a semi-empirical model.
