Measurement of collision broadening of resonance lines of calcium ion by a low-resolution spectrometer

  • 1. Kyoto Technical Univ. (Japan)

Description

The line widths of calcium ion resonance lines broadened by argon gas are measured. Radiation from the equilibrium region behind the reflected wave in a shock-tube is studied using a rapid scanning spectrometer. A method of measuring the small broadening half-width using a relatively low-resolution spectrometer is devised. The measured broadening coefficients of 2.60(+-0.81) x 10-20 cm-2 for the H-line and 2.84(+-0.85) x 10-20 cm-2 for the K-line agree fairly well with previous results. (author)
