Finite element analysis of turbulent flows in complex flow sections

  • 1. Ustav Jaderneho Vyzkumu CSKAE, Rez (Czechoslovakia)

Description

The KMODEL computer program is described for turbulent flow in fast reactor fuel subassemblies. The model was used of steady longitudinal fully-developed turbulent flow of an incompressible fluid through an infinite bundle of parallel smooth rods which is described by Reynolds' and Prandtl-Kolmogorov's equations. The equations together with boundary conditions are solved using the finite element method. Theoretical results are compared with experiments. The results of the comparison of wall shear stress distribution, velocity profiles, kinetic energy of turbulence, radial Reynolds stresses and azimuthal Reynolds stresses are graphically presented.
