Prolactin levels in the formation of the adaptive body reactions under the conditions of occupational irradiation

  • 1. Meditsinska Akademiya, Sofia (Bulgaria). Nauchen Inst. po Rentgenologiya i Radiobiologiya

Description

The prolactin levels were investigated in 120 males, working with ionizing radiations (industrial enterprises). The anual radiation doses were within the maximum admitted limits, while the cummulative radiation loading was from 0.20 to 30 cGy. The results were compared with a control group of 50 males. An undulant dynamics was established with increase of the hormonal levels for the low and the highest doses. A higher concentration was also found in the younger workers. A slight correlation was observed between the prolactin levels and the length of service. The results obtained could help in a more comprehensive estimation of the adaptation mechanisms under occupational conditions. 2 tabs., 7 refs
