High-vacuum installation with mass-spectrometer for study of hydrogen behavior in the metals and alloys

  • 1. Ural'skij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Sverdlovsk (USSR)

Description

High-vacuum installation with a mass-spectrometric attechment for studying diffusion characteristics of hydrogen and its isotopes, and also coefficients of their penetration and solubility in metals and alloys is described. The developed construction makes it possible to conduct corresponding investigations by the time lag method in two regimes-static and dynamic ones, within the temperature range from 505 up to 1173 K and pressure range from 104 up to 106 Pa. Construction and principle of operation of a high-vacuum diffusion cell with a liquid-metal seal are described. Application of modern devices, which keep and control the given measurement conditions, and also utilization of the above mass-spectrometer for a gas phase analysis improve considerably the experiment accuracy
