Calorimeter

Description

The invention refers to nuclear radiation detection and can be used in metal-scintillator type calorimeters. The invention is aimed at increasing the accuracy of energy determination and reliability of high energy particle identification. The aim is achieved by means of increasing the level of electron and hadron separation in the calorimeter and the calorimeter response homogeneity. The calorimeter is produced in the form of modules, located along the partricle trajectory direction and consists of sequential plates of the metal and scintillator through which a fiber light guide-spectrum displacer goes. The latter is performed as a spiral passing through all scintillation plates in circular and bent slots. The achieved level of electron and hadron separation using calorimeter module (10 lead and scintillation plates) and the total signal from three remaining parts makes up 20 under 95% of electron detection efficiency. 2 refs.; 1 fig
