Hole-induced exoelectron emission

  • 1. AN Ehstonskoj SSR, Tartu. Inst. Fiziki

Description

Exelectron emission (EEE) of pure (NaCl, KCl, LiF) and alloyed (NaCl-Ag, NaCl-Tl, KCl-Ag, KCl-Tl, KBr-Ag, Kl-Tl, NaCl-Pb, NaCl-Li, KCl-Li) monocrystals of alkali haloids, MgO-Al, Al2O3-Mg as well as polycrystalline specimens of MgO-Li, MgO-F and Al2O3, which were previously excited with X-ray radiation at 80 K, was investigated. The experiments were performed in a special hig.h-vacuum (oilless vacuum of 10-4-10-5 Pa) cryostat created for emission and optical measurements. A set of experimental procedures, above all method of selective optical filling of capture levels with holes and electrons, were used to show the realization of hole-induced exoelectron emission (HIEEE) in a series of AH and oxides. Most probably HIEEE is realized through inter-center Auger processes with participation, besides hole, both of two-electron and one-electron colouring centers. Predominance of contribution of one another concrete schemes of the Auger processes in HIEEE depends considerably both on a concrete emitter (in particular, alloying impurities) and experiments conditions (especially on a dose of preliminary excitation)
