Description
Safety assessment is a very wide field which includes developing an understanding of a disposal system, quantifying the behaviour of this system, assessing the limitations of such predictions and, very importantly, convincing relevant groups of the adequacy of the overall analysis. This paper discusses the uncertainties involved in each of these areas and considers the role which is, or could be, played by natural analogues. 10 refs
