Studies on influence of gamma radiation on liquid-crystalline properties of chosen cholesterol esters irradiated in the solid state

Description

An influence of gamma radiation of different energy and exposure dose on the liquid-crystalline properties of pure cholesterol esters has been studied. The phase transition temperatures were found to decrease with the increase in the exposure dose, and in the wide range of the dose values the dependence was found to be linear. The observed effects depend on the gamma radiation energy and the molecular structure of cholesteric esters, however no dependence on exposure dose of radiation was found. 8 figs., 1 tab., 9 refs.
