ÚJV Řež activities in radioactive waste management
Description
The position and competence of ÚJV Řež (Nuclear Research Institute Rez), a key Czech nuclear research and engineering company, in radioactive waste management are described. ÚJV Řež processes 95% of Czech institutional radioactive waste. It is the major partner of the Government in research support of the development of a deep geological repository for spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. ÚJV Řež includes an accredited radiochemical analytical testing laboratory, which is the only one in the Czech Republic. ÚJV Řež is also a member of in international organizations and associations and is involved in international projects. ÚJV Řež provides services to repatriate highly enriched fuel from research reactors under the GTRI initiative. (orig.)
